Product Description

The Fire Shrimp is named due to its blood-red body color with white spots in the carapace and white appendages. With its exquisite design, it makes the most spectacular shrimp in your fish tank. The Fire Shrimp is indigenous to the Indo-Pacific region and is considered a scarlet cleaner shrimp who removes necrotic tissue and parasites from fishes. It inhabits coral reefs and is usually encountered at depths of sea. The Fire Shrimp brilliantly performs as a cleaner for removing the ectoparasites or dead skin from fish. Once the fish sense that the shrimp will clean them, they enter their territory, which becomes the ?cleaning station?. Outside this station fish wait for their turn to be cleaned. It is basically a mutual association, where the shrimp will attain some meaty foods for themselves while cleaning. The Fire Shrimp brilliantly performs as a cleaner for removing the ectoparasites or dead skin from fishes. It mainly dwells near a cave or crevices, therefore it is suggested to keep some live rocks in your aquarium to provide them a natural environment. As it grows, the Fire Shrimp undergoes a molting process, during which it becomes reclusive and hardly can be seen outside its place. It is an active swimmer and a very good scavenger. The Fire Shrimp can breed in captivity and some advanced reef tankers or aquarists have experienced the same by isolating and raising those larvae. Though being a peaceful aquarium inhabitant, the Fire Shrimp will chase away other similar looking shrimps and can be territorial. Once they are paired, the shrimps are continual breeders and will spawn in captivity. It features paddle like back legs which are called as swimmerets and are found on their abdomens which help them swim fast. The female shrimp carry their eggs on these swimmerets.
